When I go to Petco and check out, the terminal asks me, "Do you want to donate $1 to help this cute little puppy face?" They get me every time.
Now, if I sign up for a cloud service or software subscription, why don't I have the option to contribute $1 (or 1%) to an open source foundation or collective?
Imagine buying an app that uses many projects from the OpenJS Foundation. Why not ask the customer if they would like to help save an open source project/foundation? Or just do it automatically like shown below:
