This week I published a podcast episode that features a software engineer to prolific non-code contributor by the name of Snow Petterson. Snow is a senior maintainer for Envoy, a very popular proxy server in the cloud-native space used by Lyft, Google, Netflix, and many other household name companies.

Snow went from writing new code to reviewing others, answering emails, filing and/or responding to issues, merging PRs on GitHub. Basically all of the necessary tasks that help sustain a project for the long haul.

Take a listen.

The maintainer of curl is definitely a star. What I found most interesting about this article was more about the non-code effort the GitHub DevRel team made to make this maintainer feel appreciated by the entire open source community. Not only did he get a beautiful plaque, but he also got tons of exclusive merch and a personalized letter. 👏

No video this week 😭 but that means you have more time to listen to that podcast episode! ⬆️
